Obituary: Vickie Brakke

Vickie Brakke 1948 - 2005 Vickie Louise Brakke, 57, died Wednesday morning, October 19, 2005, at the home of her parents in Layton, from complications of cancer.

She was born September 8, 1948, in Billings, Montana, the daughter of Vernon Ellsworth and Lenora Joan Smith Brakke. She graduated from West High in Billings, and later from B.Y.U. with a degree in fashion merchandising.

She became a buyer for Capwell's, Mervyn's, and most recently Cingular Wireless telecommunications. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had served as a missionary in Tonga. She especially enjoyed working with the youth.

She lived much of her life in California, but enjoyed traveling, especially to Germany. She is survived by her parents; three sisters: Arleen (Jim) Young; Terri (Steven) Richins; Dona Brakke; three brothers: Dennis (Gayle), Curtis, and Shane; numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

She was preceded in death by a nephew, Kyle. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 22, 2005, at the West Valley 3rd Ward LDS Church, 2820 West 3590 South. The family will greet friends at the church for one hour just prior to services. Burial will be in the Valley View Memorial Park. Arrangements by SereniCare, Funeral Directors.
